ANT 6024: Contemporary Trends in Anthropological Theory
Please note: This course is not being offered this year.
This course is
designed for advanced M.A. students and Ph.D. students in socio-cultural
and linguistic anthropology. It aims to fill a gap in the Ph.D.
program by providing a core theory course for incoming Ph.D. students.
It allows for a specialized focus on theoretical and methodological
issues that are of central concern to the sociocultural and linguistic
anthropology fields. It aims to strengthen students' capacities to
conduct symbolic interpretation and to locate their approaches within
a broader theoretical context. These skills ought to lead to an
improvement in how students formulate the theoretical and methodological
sections of their Ph.D. proposals.
