about
me
______________________________________________
I
am a faculty member and instructor (PhD— Italian Studies/Cinema) at
the
University of Toronto. I lived
in Rome until 1995, where I had the opportunity
to
get involved in various artistic initiatives and meet with film directors,
such
as Gianni Amelio, Nanni Moretti, and Gabriele Salvatores.
I
enjoy both artistic and non-artistic activities, such as acting
(played roles in Pirandello, Queneau, Goldoni), and academic
research (presenting paper on "The Fantastic Element in Italian
Films
of the Ninities" at
iafa.org conference in Florida). My
writing includes
poetry
and
narrative
as
well as essay writing. Subsequently, I love to
translate
my
written thoughts into films. My works include the
novel
The Adolescent and
a short film Infinitely Near. One of my goals
for
the
future is to translate The Adolescent into a feature film.
I
look forward in teaching this new course on Italian director Gianni
Amelio.
