Jydsk polonaise

Country: Vejleegnen, Denmark
Type: set dance, but can also be done as a mixer
Formation: any number of couples in closed circle.
Steps: polonaise, run
Music: 358:375

1-8 1 (a) All circle CW with 12 running steps, then CCW, 12 running steps.
9-16 (b) All take couple hold (eg polska hold) and dance in LOD, 8 polonaise steps.
1-8 2 (a) All dance R-hand chain, beginning with own partner. 24 running steps. Stop at first meeting with partner.
Note: if one hasn't reached one's own partner by the end of bar 8, the music is extended by playing/plucking the last note sufficient times (3 times per bar, but only 1 in the last bar). It is therefore necessary for the musician(s) to keep an eye on a particular couple, and only begin playing bars 9-16 once that couple has been reunited.
9-16 (b) All take couple hold (eg polska hold) and dance in LOD, 8 polonaise steps.
Repeat (2 a) and (2 b) twice, ie three times in total.
1-8 3 (a) All M follow each other in an inner circle moving CCW, while all W follow each other in an outer circle dancing CW. 24 running steps. Stop at first meeting with partner.
See Note to (2 a).
9-16 (b) All take couple hold (eg polska hold) and dance in LOD, 8 polonaise steps.
Repeat (3 a) and (3 b) twice, ie three times in total.
