Formation: 4 couple quadrille. Head couples (couples 1 and 2) respectively have their backs to or face the music. Couple 3 stands on the side to the right of couple 1, and couple 4 faces couple 3.

    Dance progression
|:1-8:| 1 (a) All couples form closed circle and dance CW, 16 run-walk steps, followed by 16 ditto CCW.
9-12 (b) Couples 1 and 2, dance 4 run-walk steps towards opposite, pass CW dos-á-dos, and return backwards to place with 4 run-walk steps.
13-16 Couples 3 and 4 repeat (b).
9-16 Repeat (b).
    Part (b) is the same in all sequences.
|:1-8:| 2 (a) Swing partner on the spot. Waltz hold. 16 run-walk steps CW and CCW.

    Notes: Commonly, only sequences 1, 2, 5, 8 and 11 are danced.
The dance is often done immediately after Tre smaa sorte.
'Viborg-totur' can at first glance seem quite uninteresting; but seasoned and knowledgeable folkdancers will come to appreciate it, while beginners will normally get very little out of it - but this is true of several other dances.
