    Dance progression
1-4 (a) Couples, holding inside hands and beginning with outside foot, walk 4 walking steps forward in LOD, both starting with outside (ML/WR) foot. Joined arms are forward.
1-4   Couples walk 4 walking steps forward in LOD, both starting with outside (ML/WR) foot. Joined arms are swung back towards RLOD.
5-8 (b) M walks in a loop CCW, while W walks in the loop CW, ie away from each other. Finish facing partner. 4 walking steps.
Note: when done as a mixer, M loops as above, moving to second W in RLOD, who becomes new partner. W, meanwhile, does walking steps straight forward in LOD to finish facing second M in LOD, who becomes new partner.
9-12   M leaps onto L (9), stamps R (&), leaps onto R (10) and stamps L (&), leaps onto L (11), and stamps R twice (& 12). W uses opposite footwork.
    Repeat from (a) as desired.
