Beauty Conference Travel and Accommodations Information
A great deal of information about Toronto is available at the Welcome
to Toronto! Web pages, maintained independantly of the Beauty conference.
Included on these pages are the following:
We have compiled a select list of places to stay near the University of Toronto. This list includes approximate prices. It is, however, by no means exhaustive.
Here is some general information about travelling to the conference. This includes tips on how to get to the university from the airport, train station, bus station, and subway station.

From Lester B. Pearson Airport to Downtown Toronto
A taxi will be approximately $35 plus tip from the airport to the university.
A better option is the airport shuttle.
The shuttle has three destinations: the two most probable ones for conference attendees being the Islington subway stop and the Downtown/Royal York stop. I recommend Islington as being faster and cheaper.
The price of the Islington shuttle is $6.75 one way, and $10.95 return. Tickets can be purchased at curbside kiosks on the arrivals level of all airport terminals, or from the driver. The journey from the airport to Islington subway station takes about 25 minutes. The first shuttle departs from the airport at 5.45 am, and after that about every half hour, the last at 12.25 am. From the Islington stop, you can take a direct subway to downtown Toroto. Subway tokens are $2 each, or $8 for five. Take the east-bound subway train at Islington to St George station (for the university, Hart House, Quality Inn Hotel), or Bay station (The Four Seasons Hotel). This will take from 25 to 30 minutes. If you want to go north or south, changeover stations are: Spadina, St George, and Yonge/Bloor.
The Downtown shuttle is $12.50 one way, $21.50 return. The earliest departure from the airport is at 6.30 am, and the last one at 12.45 am. It will take you to the Royal York Hotel, (a 40 minute journey) from which you can follow the signs to the Union station subway train and go north.
For more information about the airport shuttles, including a full schedule, call the automated information service at (905) 564-6333.
If you are arriving by train, you will want to make sure you get off at Toronto Union station. The Union subway station is right next to the Union train station: signs will guide you to the subway.
If you are arriving by bus, you can get off at the downtown Toronto station. The bus station is right next to the Dundas subway station: signs will guide you. You can take the subway from Dundas station directly to St George station if you make sure you get on the south-bound train. If you get on the north-bound train, you can transfer at Yonge/Bloor to get to the St George station.
From St. George subway station to the university
To get from St George subway to the university, exit at the Bedford St exit, turn right, cross Bloor St, turn right again, turn left at Devonshire Avenue, walk down to Hoskin Avenue, cross the road and you will be on campus, with Hart House on your left and University College on your right.
