"This is one of seven poems from Sir Walter Scott's <I>The Lady of the Lake</I>
which Schubert set to music in 1825. It is the last of Ellen's three songs
and is by far the best known of the group. This serene hymn to the Blessed
Virgin is among Schubert's lovliest lyrical outpourrings, The melody is supported
by a repeated sextuplet figure reflecting Ellen's harp." (Longon Recording,
