St Michael's College: Conference on Byzantine Monasticisms Friday, 30 March - Sunday, 1 April 2001
The Faculty of Theology of the University of St. Michael's College is hosting an interdisciplinary conference on the varieties of ascetical life in the Byzantine Empire [6th - 13th century]. This conference will focus on the current state of scholarly research in Byzantine monasticism and highlight areas in need of further study. Papers are invited on the following themes:
People (Founders, Reformers, Benefactors)Forms of Ascetical Life (Eremitic, Lavriotic, Cenobitic)
Monastic Philanthropy
