My name's Michael Stairs,
After earning a B.Sc. degree in Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence from UofT, I joined the Centre for
Computing in the Humanities for its grand opening in the spring of 1987. May 1, 1996, the CHASS
Facility was created from a merger of EPAS and my former centre.
My interests in computational linguistics, and syntax in particular, originally attracted me to
Humanities Computing.
To be involved in what is a relatively new field has been exciting.
I have since extended my interests to include support for the Social Sciences.
Phthong is currently being used by undergraduate courses on the St. George
Campus, at the University of Toronto.
Currently, I am concentrating on developing WEB based software, designing server and
client-based programs to meet the needs of the university community.
You are the
and welcome to my home page. As a staff member
of the University of Toronto's
